About English 125

English 125, Introduction to College Writing, is an intensive four credit composition course that equips students with the essentials for prose writing at the University level. This section is a hands-on workshop and seminar with an emphasis on the act, not the theory, of writing.

Over the course of the semester, students will read work by Plato, Borges, Orwell, Vidal, Shakespeare, Postman, Marx & Engels, and each other. They will complete five essays and numerous small assignments, participate in both small and large workshops, provide extensive feedback on each other's work, and meet with the instructor frequently. A course syllabus is available and provides further details.
