Teaching Writing
While at the University of Michigan I had the opportunity to teach an introductory composition for a year. Just me and eighteen undergrads who wanted to be anywhere but in a required rhetoric class. Teaching others to write is one of the three best ways to learn the craft yourself (the others being "write compulsively" and "read compulsively," in that order). Teaching is also one of the best ways to sign away your life. It will devour every minute in your day if you let it.
Here, then, is the course website I used my first semester teaching. Most of the contents are adapted (pedagogue-speak for "stolen") from other teachers; if they are useful to you in any of your forays into teaching, I encourage you to adapt them from me in a similar fashion.
